Gaps in Employment — Resume Writing
A job seeker emailed me with a question about his career. He had been in the banking industry for about 30 years and reached the high level in that industry. When he decided he was going to make a career change, so for the following 2 years he explored the areas of securities and also did some personal real estate investing and now he wants to get back into the banking industry and he wants to know from me, how shall he handle that 2 year employment gap on his resume. Here’s what I suggest. Use the chronological resume and for the first entry under experience section put the date of the last 2 years and for the job title place something like financial management and professional development. Then under that put 2 or 3 or may be two bullet points.
